It is the middle space that carries the highest strategic importance, with the objective to bring it under the expanding orbit of the West. Too passive regarding international security. An unsentimental book that makes me feel nostalgic for simpler time.

Velika Šahovska Tabla by Zbigniew Brzeziński (4 star ratings)

It was in Europe that the book’s vision began to totter under the weight of those 20 years. An eye-opener about the difference between geostrategy and geopolitics.

And nevertheless, it is a study drenched in deep disregard for the independent ideologies and cultures of all countries, making the case for a modern day Platonic state being the only solution. When it was published inthis book was likely authoritative on international relations and America’s role and responsibilities as a hegemon.

It is a study made with a lot of strategic analyses that have pretty much all came true since it’s publication in In this book he’ll clearly, coldly, layout the past two decades of how US hegemony exists on a Global level. Imad rated it did not like it Sep 06, Brzezinsku enjoyed every minute of it. But individual claims should be taken with a grain of salt. The trouble with books of this type is that they have a limited shelf life and are then proven wrong, sahosvka right, by history.

Today, it is infinitely easier to kill a million people than to control a million people. It predates neo-con excesses, and it shows, but is still relevant as a read.

Ben S rated it did not like it Jun 07, Thanks for telling us about the problem. Amazon Kindle 0 editions. The book being two decades old, and me not being super familiar with geopolitics from the mid- to late’s, I didn’t get much out of velikaa, other than it’s a complicated situation that is still complicated today.

In fact, the very opposite is truth. Return to Book Page. To see what your friends thought of this book, please sign up.
