I’ve always enjoyed Erastes work, especially Mere Mortals, which was the last of her works I read. He’s the most interesting of the characters, I think. Apr 14, Kevin rated it liked it. Not quite brown and yet not hazel; in some lights like amber honey, and in others lit with a greenish fire.
There’s at least one moment that will stay with me for a long time, the shock of the twist and the visual of it are highly effective. It is not a light bit of fluff, it is extremely dark in some places.
I’ll have to make my own judgement on that, but I can say that Transgressions doesn’t have that problem. They become lovers when Jonathan comes to work as an apprentice as the forge owned by David’s father, but then David runs off and joins the King’s army setting is the English Civil War when he’s falsely accused of rape by a local girl trying to trap him into marriageand since he tends to lie every time he opens his mouth transgresions Jonathan doesn’t believe his denials.
The relationships that David and Jonathan had apart from each other were more interesting to me than their actual relationship with each other. Sitting beside him was a young man clad in somber clothes, overshadowed by a large black hat. Good characters and a believable plot.
Jonathan is drawn to trannsgressions charismatic Michael, finally embracing a transgrdssions for truth so wholeheartedly, he doesn’t recognize the danger—physical and emotional—that Michael represents. Like I said, David is a man who you can tell is lying because his lips are moving.

Jul 21, Curtis rated it it was ok Shelves: It was not that they were poor, but it was waste, and waste was sin. It’s Jonathan’s journey which is the most trying, and difficult to believe. Erastes initially began writing gay fiction after initially having a start writing slash fiction set in the Harry Potter universe. I admit, learning that our two heroes are separated for a big chunk of the book put a real damper on my enthusiasm.
I had no doubt that David and Jonathan were made for each other, that while they had to go their own way they would also find each other again. He is dreamy, idealistic, self-centered, impetuous and restless. I find angst terribly annoying. You can still find copies of. David’s maturity comes not only from fighting as a soldier and learning to cope with living a harsh life, but also the relationships he forms with other men after he and Jonathan separate.
Stephen Caverly, his twin, had perished together with his mother when David himself had been born. David Caverly’s strict father has brought. In certain corners of the romance writing world, maybe it is.
There were things I liked about this novel and things I didn’t like. The story evolved in an entwining of singular storylines regarding David and Jonathan. Erastes has been writing sinceand details of all her books and short stories can be found on her website.
Now, Erastes does lay some groundwork for this, planting a few seeds of doubt in Jonathan about Michael, and she works hard to set up Jonathan’s epiphany, but I was still left feeling it was a bit too much of an “insta-cure”, perhaps more so because Jonathan stays with the witch hunters and works his way up to general.

This is a much longer work than most of Erastes’ books, and it does move along rather slowly in the beginning, as her books do. Also, I got soured on it because I happened across the kerfuffle about this genre about halfway through the book.
In the end, it was a nice light read. Part of me transgresisons like this is harsh but I do have my reasons.
