Iyanla Vanzant’s Peace From Broken Pieces [Book Review] | Wherever I Look

The moral is you keep on keeping and and learn all you can from all that life brings you. After reading Gemmia’s journals from the past ten years, Iyanla tries to come to terms with her role in her daughter’s illness and in the lessons she passed on to her about love. Bless her heart ffrom life for sharing it all. This woman has overcome so much–she’s a true warrior of lif I saw Iyanla on Oprah’s Lifeclass on OWN last week and decided to read this book after she referred to one of the concepts in it.

I think there’s something powerful about getting to the “top” and realizing there’s nothing there I have never heard of Iyanla, nor have I read vanzajt of her books. This book is so much more. Her voice, as always, conveys an emotion and faith that simply would not come across in writing.

Jun 27, Rebecca rated it liked it. Does this sound like a spiritual leader to you? It brought me tears in my eyes multiple times. Will be returning to this time and time again. Her life is one tragic episode vanxant another starting from day one in childhood into adulthood.

Most Helpful Most Recent. Do you think God seriously works that way woman? A quote from page Frpm makes it very clear that she favors her middle child.

I can’t help but to feel that her version of events might be denied by the other parties involved. In this book, Iyanla shares her tremendously tragic childhood, her many mistakes as a teen and single mother, her rise as an inspirational speaker, her fall from grace after losing her contract with the Oprah show, the disastrous day time show of her own produced by Barbara Walters, and losing her closest daughter to cancer. I have a whole new respect for Iyanla Vanzant. I would love to meet her.

Peace from Broken Pieces: How to Get Through What You’re Going Through

A great but uncomfortable book for me as it heat some home trues. You can hear who she really is and all the emotions she went through. Published first published September 15th No trivia or quizzes yet. In the episodes broen poignantly helps men and women without a father figure in their life and to deal with the empty space a parent leaves behind.


Obviously, she peaace been through enough and she goes on and on about being a bad mother, not believing her own hype, marrying a cheater, etc. I truly believe, while well intentioned, I would have gotten a bit more from Peace from Broken Pieces rfom she cut back a bit on every single detail in some areas and gotten this down by a few chapters in length.

She made the story about her unworthiness that enhanced her need to be approved.

I felt towards the end in Chapter 19, she was finally coming to terms with turning her life around, but then blows it in the next paragraph. It does not sound like she has found peace.

This is a great book so far! After film critic Gene Siskel asked her, ‘What do you know for sure?

How can you help others to heal and you are broken yourself? Great book grom an inspirational life story! I am cheering Iyanla on because she had beat herself up enough in her lifetime. Irish Catholic man who lost my younger brother decades ago and my mother to cancer as she lost her daughter just over a year ago.
